How can we help?

Payment profile import – LMS

This is the second step in the two-part process of importing payment profile information. Here, we describe how to import information into the Loan Management System. If you have not completed the steps in the first part of this process, we recommend reading our payment profile import – Secure Payments article.

Occasionally, you may need to enter a large batch of payment profiles into Secure Payments or LoanPro's Loan Management System (LMS). Entering each payment profile manually is not only time-consuming, but it could lead to entry errors. Instead, you can add large quantities of payment profiles with ease by using the import tool.

To maintain PCI compliance, full payment profile information can only be manually input or imported into Secure Payments. Once the payment profile is entered here, an automatically-generated token is created. These tokens ensure sensitive payment information is kept secure in the event that your account is compromised. In terms of importing payment profiles into LMS, only the tokenized payment profile information can be used. This is why we have broken the payment profile import process into two steps: importing into secure Payments does not require a token, while importing into LMS does.

In this article, we will exclusively explain how to import payment profile information using the LMS import tool. If you're unfamiliar with importing data, we suggest reading importing into LoanPro and import reports.

Retrieving tokenized payment profile information

As we have mentioned before, importing payment profile information into LMS requires that the information is tokenized. To receive this information, a few steps are required.

At this point in the process, you will need to have imported your payment profile file into Secure Payments as detailed in our payment profile import – Secure Payments article. Once the file has been verified and formatted correctly, Secure Payments will send an email to the notification email you set for the import.

This email will include a .csv file that contains the tokenized payment profile information. (But you can also download this file from the UI on the Import page.) The tokens within the file will be in the order of your import file and won't display any other information, so it will be up to you to match the tokens to their payment profile. Here's an example of what the tokenized information looks like in this file:

Notice that the IDs start at 0. The output files are broken into multiple files if more than 9999 payment profiles are imported at the same time. This means your IDs will range from 0 to 9998.

Creating an import file for LMS

To import your payment profile information into LMS, log into your LoanPro account and navigate to Settings > Company > Import > Instructions & Samples. Select 'Payment Profiles', which is near the top and in the customer section.

Click the link to the sample file to download the paymentProfilesSample.csv. Or, you can download it here:

Payment Profile Import Sample File

This is the sample file from which you can build your payment profile import. This file contains columns for the following information:

Column Example Description
action add This is the action the import will perform such as "add", "update", or "remove" accounts.
customerId 1183 This is the ID of the customer this payment profile will be associated with.
importId 3124 This is optional, but you can add an ID for the payment profile that can be used in other imports.
type checking This is the type of the payment profile such as "credit", "checking", or "eft".
title Wells Fargo Credit Card

This is the title of the payment profile.

This is meant to help distinguish it from other payment profiles assigned to the customer.

primary True

This designates a payment profile as the primary payment profile for the associated customer.

Set as either "True" or "False".

Token QVFJREFlalVqRlk3bHJIVFJFWERTSFfljS3R... This is the token for the payment profile that you received when creating the payment profile in Secure Payments.
accountType savings

This is the type of account such as "checking" or "savings".

This is only required for bank accounts.

verify True

This designates where the system should verify this is a real payment method.

Set as either "True" or "False".

Using the tokens you received in the file from earlier, enter the information into this new sheet. Once all of the payment profile information has been entered, save the file. Next, you will import the file into LMS.

Importing your file into LMS

Once your file has been formatted correctly, navigate to Settings > Company > Import > Upload & History; this is where import files are added to the system.

To add your file, click 'Add'.

Here, you'll be presented with a selection of upload options. Since you're uploading a payment profile file, you will need to select 'Customer' from the drop-down on the left and 'Payment Profiles' from the drop-down on the right. Next, you have a choice for how the file is validated and progressed. Here is a breakdown of how each option works:

  • Validation Type
    • File rejection – If the file has any errors, LMS will reject it entirely and tell you which rows have problems.
    • Line rejection – LMS will accept all valid rows but reject any rows that have issues.
  • Import Progression
    • Manual – A human being will need to manually click through each step of the import.
    • Automatic – LMS will automatically start the next import step when it reaches the end of the previous step, including validation, ingestion, verification, and reporting.

Once you have uploaded your selected file and selected your options, click 'Save.'

The file will be submitted and your payment profiles will be imported if no errors are found. In addition, you can download the source import file, the rejections file which displays which lines (if any) were rejected, and a coversheet file which details the results of the import.
